In this chapter we discuss the aspect of managing production assets. From the moment a project is initiated to its final delivery, there are number of people performing a large number of tasks that involve assets that are used in a project. These can be in the form of physical assets as in the case of stop-motion animation or digital assets for CGI. We discuss how to maintain records of critical information at every stage. We see the various steps that may be undertaken to minimize loss of time and productivity. Further, we discuss the importance of sign-offs at every step. The meaning and implications of drops, retakes and corrections is discussed both from the point of view of production deliverables and finance.
